May, a 6-8 forward and all-district selection last season, becomes the first Mentor boys basketball player to earn a Division I scholarship since Doug Schutz signed with Cleveland State in 1982. May averaged 24 points and eight rebounds last season and drove the lane about as well as he shot from the outside. He shot 55 percent from 2-point range, 34 percent on 3-pointers and 83 percent from the line.
