More on Douglas' departure
Corky Blake checked in this week with a piece on Jamaal Douglas' transfer,/a> from Lafayette to Eastern Kentucky.
Douglas' destination was not new news, but Corky did have an interesting observation from Leopards coach Fran O'Hanlon:
We can understand O'Hanlon being upset at losing his best player. Especially since with no scholarships, he has to bank on finding diamonds in the rough that he can polish once they get to Easton.
But the idea that Douglas owes Lafayette anything boggles the mind. They already got more from the kid than they had the right to expect. Sure it would have been nice to see lofty ideals win out. But this is the real world, and in the real world, you get what ya' pay for.
Interestingly, we don't remember O'Hanlon preaching loyalty when Sean Knitter decided to leave Delaware to transfer to Lafayette.

"Jamaal wasn't offered any (Division I) scholarships coming out of high school," O'Hanlon said. "We brought him here, invested two years with him where he got to the point that he led the league in rebounding. You would've thought it might've been time for him to repay us."That seems like a damned curious statement from a school that doesn't offer athletic scholarships.
