"The university is making the moves to sustain the success of its other sports," said Joni Comstock, American's athletic director. "American's sports teams have enjoyed considerable success in recent years, especially since joining the Patriot League, Comstock said."Roughly translated: American won't consider cutting scholarships in sports other than basketball, which the other league teams do not give. The budget needed cut, and it was either drop some sports or give up membership in the United Nations and the expense of recruiting and training the Lithuanian National Hoops team.
